Report abuse
!
In danger or in an emergency? Contact your local emergency services first. We cannot see
rooms and cannot intervene in a live chat.
How to report
Write to [email protected]. We read every report and aim to answer within one working day.
Please include what you can of the following:
- when it happened (date, time and time zone);
- what happened, in a few sentences: harassment, a scam or phishing attempt, illegal content, or misuse of the service itself;
- how you came to be in the room, for example who sent you the link and how;
- screenshots of messages you received, if you have them;
- a way to reach you for questions.
Please do not send us a room link unless we ask. A link contains the room key. We do not need it to act on a report, and nothing said in a room is visible to us either way.
What we can do
- Limit or block access to the service, including from addresses that abuse it.
- Change the service, for example room sizes and rate limits, to make an abuse pattern harder.
- Answer valid legal requests with what we technically have. By design this is very little: no messages, no keys, no accounts, no stored IP addresses. See the privacy page.
What we cannot do
- Read, search or remove messages. They are encrypted and not stored.
- Identify who is in a room, or find a room from a description.
- Close a particular room from the outside. Anyone in a room can end it for everyone with End chat, and you can leave at any time.
If you received a suspicious link or request
Rooms are for people who know each other. If someone you do not know, or someone claiming to be a bank, a company or an official, asks you to join a room and then asks for money, passwords, codes or personal details, leave the room, do not follow their instructions, and tell us. A real organisation will not ask for these in a chat room.
